While MPs are jostling and posturing over their stance on the early general election desired by the prime minister, the public also has an opinion. Although last time round the level of apathy seemed to be very high (see Brenda ''), a new poll has revealed a relatively strong appetite for a new vote. Half of adults in Great Britain said they would support an immediate election, compared to just 23 percent that would oppose it. First though, there needs to be a vote in parliament, and then a 2/3 majority in favour.
