Eurostat recently released about healthcare costs in EU Member States. Germany had the highest level of healthcare expenditure in 2015 with 鈧�338 billion, equivalent to 11.2 percent of GDP. The United Kingdom came second with 鈧�255 billion, followed by France with 鈧�241 billion.

Relative to population, Luxembourg had the highest expenditure per inhabitant at 鈧�5,557. Sweden came second with 鈧�5,023 while Denmark rounded off the top three with 鈧�4,938. At the other end of the scale, Romania had the lowest level of healthcare spending per person at 鈧�400, followed by Bulgaria with 鈧�518 and Latvia at 鈧�702.
