Movie Tickets

Where Going to the Movies Could Break the Bank

Summer flicks are starting to hit the big screens across the world. While people are scrambling to catch the new Thor or Minions flicks, the amount they have to shell out for a recent international release varies on their location.

the notoriously expensive Swiss city Zurich lives up to its reputation when it comes to the price of movie tickets. They can cost almost $21 in the city, only surpassed in the ranking by fellow Swiss locales Lausanne and Bern. In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, moviegoers have to pay an average $18.65 for a seat at the movies, but might happily do so as cinemas only recently were legalized in the country. New York City follows suit at $18.00 a ticket. Other pricey locations include the Scandinavian countries, Sydney and Tokyo.

For the price of one movie ticket in Zurich, three people could see an international release in Accra, Ghana or Warsaw, Poland. Four people could treat themselves to a night at the movies for the same price in Delhi, India, or Buenos Aires, Argentina. In Tehran, Iran - the cheapest city on the list - movie tickets come as cheap as $2.
